Homemade Jellied Cranberry Sauce

November 26, 2013

Need to fool your guest that you did buy the stuff in the can without buying the stuff in the can. So here's a awesome homemade recipe I use.

Homemade Jellied Cranberry Sauce

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup Orange Juice(fresh or store bought)
  • 1 cup Water
  • 1 cup Sugar
  • 1 12 oz bag of Cranberries
  • 1 tsp Lemon zest
  • 1 Tbsp Lemon juice
  • 1/2 tsp Ginger(fresh or powder)

Directions:

Throw all ingredients in sauce pot, bring to a boil on medium heat. Turn down once the berries starts to pop, simmer for 5 more minutes.

Strain thru fine mesh strainer.

Make sure you get all the goodness athe bottom. (Do not throw away the pulp(will yield about 1/2c, have a Popsicle recipe for kiddos HERE)

Put back in pot and simmer on low to very thick, another 10 minutes. WARNING pay attention if can possibly burn if not watching.

Let cool for 20 minutes. I put a few berries in mines. Put in decorated bowl or jar or can if you have one. Let cool in fridge for 4 hours but overnight is better so it can fully set.

Once fully set, run under warm water and it should pop right out. During Thanksgiving, enjoy a slice
